Rode the new Doha metro last night to get to our stadium.  Clean, and fast, and free if you are attending the tournament.  No ordinary subway kind of seating, seating but captains chairs.  A train every 3 minutes.  No matter, it was so jammed we stood for the 15 minute ride.  A friend who came here in the 60’s with his parents is still amazed at the changes he sees occurring every day.  Will be interesting to see if all these changes will still be useful after the World Cup ends.  Qatar is trying to position itself as a tourist/athletic competition kind of place.

Tonight we are having a party—it’s our 50th anniversary next year, so Kathy is hosting a gathering at the recreation room in her compound.  Pictures to follow.
